This tour gives you approximately two and a half hours at the site which includes the ruins of the sanctuary, the theatre itself and the museum. For details of performances at Epidavros during 2009, please click here.
- Catch the 10.30 KTEL bus from Porto Heli to Kranidi and in Kranidi get a ticket to Epidavros from the KTEL Office - fare is approximately 3.5 Euros. The bus continues to Athens from Epidavros so ask for the Athens bus, stating Epidavros as your destination. The KTEL Argolis timetables are here for you.
- After passing through the villages of Fourni, Didima (look out for the giant hillside craters), Trahia and Adami, the bus will drop you at the road junction for Ancient Epidavros at about 12 noon. The KTEL bus stop is just outside a taverna so get yourself a drink as it is a good kilometre walk to the site and the sun is directly overhead.
- Walk along the tree lined avenue leading to the car park once at the site, following the signs to the Post Office / Police Station and take note of the big white KTEL board which is where you need to go to catch the bus back to Kranidi.
- There is a Tourist Information Centre (where you can confirm bus return times etc) and a taverna complex for meals and drinks, as well as the Theatre itself and the Museum. The entrance ticket (costing about 6.5 Euros) allows you entrance both to the Theatre and the Museum. The Museum is not large but it is worth visiting and the souvenirs are reasonably priced.
- You must be back at the bus stop by 14.30 as the bus for Kranidi arrives and leaves at around 14.45 and there isn't another one. You can buy your ticket from the conductor when you're on the bus. The bus arrives in Kranidi at about 15.45 so have a cool drink in the square as you wait for the 16.30 bus to Porto Heli. If you wish to return sooner there is a taxi rank at the square and the fare is approximately 5.00 Euros.
