Porto Heli used to belong to the Municipality of Kranidi. We’ve been merged (since 2011) so the new Municipality of Ermionida now includes: Didima, Ermioni, Fourni, Koilada, Kranidi, Pelei, Porto Heli and Loukaiti. One big initiative has been the ‘Voluntary Services’ programme which recruits volunteers from throughout the area (temporary residents are welcome to join too) for tasks such as watching for fires in the summer, maintaining public parks or ‘adopting’ monuments, technical assistance with computers/internet, sorting of materials for recycling and more. The volunteers have already accomplished several projects including the re-planting of the roundabouts, various clean-up roadsides/beaches projects, tidying up/maintenance of monuments, sorting of products for recycling and more. If you feel you can help in any way, check out the Municipality of Ermionida website, (mostly in Greek) or chat to some of your Greek friends about how to volunteer.

Volunteers weeded, painted and fixed up the triangle in the centre of Porto Heli.
